ANNOUNCEMENTS – December 6, 2009 The Second Sunday of Advent ADVENT TWO: Today is the second Sunday of Advent. Today we light the candle of peace. The angels who announced the birth of Jesus also proclaimed “Peace on Earth!” Peace is like a light shining in a dark place: and the darkness shall not overcome it. As we look at this candle we celebrate the peace we find in Jesus Christ. We also prepare a place in our lives for Jesus, so that he can bring us the peace of God which is far beyond our understanding. May the Lord give strength to his people! May the Lord bless his people with peace! For a child has been born for us, a son given to us; authority rests upon his shoulders; and he is named Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God. Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Prayer: Gracious Lord, prepare our lives to receive your beloved Son as he comes to us in humble, peaceful and unexpected ways. Let us love the humble ones in our time and place. Let us be humble witnesses of your peace as we await your return. Amen WELCOME GUESTS! Please fill out a welcome card found in the pews and pass it to an usher or place it in the offering plate. Thanks for being here. Please join us for coffee after the first service at 9:30 am in the Fellowship Hall. HOLY COMMUNION We do have gluten-free communion wafers available upon request for those that would like them.
